Every four years people from all over the planet make a pilgrimage to the Olympic city, carrying with them a passion and will to achieve greatness. Some will fulfil their dreams, others will return home disappointed; all will have been on a voyage that will change them forever.
Are you interested in volunteering for one of the most amazing spectacles Birmingham has ever seen? From Thu 21 June, for four nights, Birmingham’s Victoria Square will be turned into a giant film set as a great big ship is built for an outdoor dance and aerial spectacle called The Voyage. High wire rigging, extraordinary aerial acrobatics, massive projections and the voices and bodies of singers and performers will colour Victoria Square in celebration of the start of the London 2012 Festival.
Birmingham Hippodrome are the producers of this event and we are looking for volunteers for the four nights, plus (compulsory) training on the full dress rehearsal on Wed 20 June, there are various roles that are available including site assistants, chaperones, runners, event and artist stewards and media assistants. We are expecting over 5,000 people on each of the four nights to watch the performance and will need people to help on all sorts of things to make this happen.
If you can commit to training on the Wed 20 June and the four subsequent nights- then we want to hear from you! There will also be a training session in May. You will be required from 8.30pm until approx 11.15pm each night (a little earlier at 7pm on the Wed night dress rehearsal) and will be part of something very special and unique to Birmingham.
This is a great opportunity for you to be involved with one of the largest outdoor celebrations in the country and something for the city to be proud of. Whether this is something to add to your CV or a chance to meet some of your CSR objectives for your company by putting forward a team, The Voyage will be an amazing spectacle that we need you, to help us, to make happen.
